A local retailer advertises selling at cost for cash on clothing pants shoes dry goods notions until 9 PM Saturday May 15. The notice lists the store as GLUK's ONE PRICE CASH STORE located at 16 3b 725 Noble Street.
An executive board strike order directs workers to refuse to work where nine hour posts are absent as firms in St Louis and New Orleans sign on. About 25,000 machinists affected. 37 percent of employers signed. Eastern cities hopeful for quick settlements while the Pacific coast faces delays. Constitutional Convention opens tomorrow at noon with 155 delegates to elect officers and committees amid a crowded field of candidates from Alabama.
Dr T W Ayers and family have arrived in Shanghai and will likely serve as medical missionaries for the Southern Baptist convention. Mr Wm A Davis received a letter from Ayers read at Parker Memorial Baptist Sunday school where Ayers long served as superintendent. He also spoke at a Baptist Young People's Union meeting through an interpreter.
St Louis broker A G Donahoo of Donahoo & Co sails to purchase three year loads of mules for Woodstock Ironworks and plans to return by Friday. The Chicago Concert Co at Noble Street Theater postpones tonight’s show to Friday due to bad weather. The company will blast no earlier than mid June as weather permits. Also an advertisement for Kermott's Chocolates Laxative Quinine claims quick cold relief.
A service update notes schedule changes effective yesterday on the Southern Railway. The eastbound evening train now departs at 6.56 PM instead of 6.25 PM while the westbound leaves at 7.42 PM instead of 7.51 PM. Dr Francis McRae died Saturday noon at his residence 170 Moore Street of cancer of the face after a prolonged illness. The funeral was conducted by Rev BE Watson at a burying ground seven miles north of the city. He was highly esteemed and his death is deeply regretted by all who knew him.
