Confederate Veteran Reunion Travel Rates Announced
The Southern Railway announces reduced round trip fares to Louisville Kentucky for the United Confederate Veterans reunion May 30 to June 3 1900. Tickets sold from Tennessee May 28–30 and from other points May 27–29 with return validity to June 10 1900. An extension to June 25 may be possible if tickets are deposited with a joint agent by June 4 with a 60 cent fee.

Indiana reports ex-Judge Timothy E Howard will be the Democratic nominee for governor after a secret Grand Hotel meeting in Indianapolis. He accepts the nomination though rival BR. FP Shively of South Bend remains in the race. Howard, born January 27 1837 near Ann Arbor, Michigan, had a long career as teacher soldier author legislator lawyer and jurist, including service at Shiloh and the Twelfth Michigan Infantry. He taught at Notre Dame wrote educational works and earned the Laetare medal in 1898.
