The Howard College Club of Anniston formed in the Anniston City Land Co. office to recruit students for Howard College Birmingham. Charles R. Bell elected president. Victor L. Powell secretary. sixteen members total. The club aims to enroll 250 students and is the first of its kind in the state. A $60 Howard College scholarship was pledged, with Oxford Baptist Church adding another $60 yearly. D. G. Cooper and Dr. Montague attended to promote the plan.
