The South African war nears its end has brought substantial financial benefits to the United States through imports of supplies totaling many millions of dollars. Unsettled European markets have hindered money market stability, leaving financiers hopeful for relief.
Anniston s country trade has risen steadily over five years and may grow further next season as surrounding farmers shift buyers to the city. A well run street fair could draw wider attention and boost trade while preserving smaller towns in the district.
The Elam Drug Co announces special round trip tickets to boost daily use on the Laxe line. Tickets at 20¢ include a 15¢ coupon for boat hire or rides, valid for one fare each direction. 10¢ tickets cover Oxford to the Lake, with a 10¢ coupon. A 14 mile open car ride is offered for 10¢ cash, with no tickets, but not on Sundays noon to 6 pm.
The notice lists coupon tickets at 13 for $1.00 good for any ride along the line or between interim points. A 25 for $1.00 option covers rides over any portion where a five cent cash fare applies. A monthly ticket of 52 trips costs $2.50, valid for the issuing calendar month and non transferable.
Ticket sale notice states transfer tickets are sold on various Anniston and Oxford line transfers. Tickets are sold only by conductors for cash and no other ticket will be accepted in exchange.
Open Cars Extra offers Sunday runs to Oxford Lake with comfortable carriage for visitors. Special cars available at reasonable rates. A beautiful Muminated car is offered for evening parties.
The management aims to merit large patronage by arranging everything for the season of 1900 and pledges to do all possible to ensure smooth operations and satisfy patrons aboard the Lake Line this year.
