Fresh young hunter meets sharp Knob county road
A boastful youth travels the Knob woods seeking a bear. He pays two pheasants to Sile for guidance and is later robbed by a highwayman. Constable Eli fines him for snared birds. Simon's Sam schemes to sell a bear, the youth buys it, shoots the rope, and ends with a fat bear bought from Rube. He leaves town in defeat.
