Dr T W Ayers superintendent of Parker Memorial Baptist Sunday school received 1000 in gold in five 20 dollar pieces in a purse. Capt A W Bell presented the gift as a tribute to his work. Ayers, appointed medical missionary to Hwanghien China, was re elected unanimously to serve until his departure.

On January 7, Sheriff W. O. Robbins and Deputy Williams of Elmore county departed for Butte Montana to extradite Eldredge Williams for trial in Alabama on a murder charge connected to the James Boswell case at Central in Elmore county dated June 28, 1801.

Capt. W. P. Armstrong president of the City National Bank of Selma died Saturday after a three day illness from gastritis. A train of about twenty five cars of horses and mules passed through for the Philippine Islands. John Owens died Monday at his home near town at age eighty two after a two day illness of cholera morbus.
