Carrie Nation to Edit Smasher's Mail for Negroes
In Topeka on February 22 Mrs. Carrie Nation plans to enter politics and edit the Smasher's Mail a paper to be published by Nick Chiles a negro saloonkeeper. David Nation will assist with the enterprise and the paper will serve the special needs of the Negro community. Mrs Nation will write the editorials.

Carrie Nation Joins Walter L Main Circus Tour
Geneva Ohio February 22 1901 Mrs Carrie Nation will tour with the Walter L Main shows for the season. Negotations secured her engagement and she will be featured nationwide before show audiences. She appears for thirty minutes daily with a fifteen minute temperance talk in the menagerie tent and a tableau wagon in the street spectacle.

Tuskegee February 22 Yesterday morning about five o'clock T Y Conner's oil mill caught fire and was almost entirely destroyed. The fire started from linters with a loss between five and ten thousand dollars and insurance of five thousand.

Death of Dr. J McClintock in Annis ton
Dr J L McClintock died at his home on Eighth Street after a week long illness from pneumonia. The 53 year old physician moved from near Delta three months ago and joined Good Hope Baptist church. He will be buried at Delta Sunday. He is survived by four children and a wife who died four years ago.

Mrs J M Roberts Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. J M Roberts died about 6 o clock last night at 1820 Walnut street after a long illness. She was 48, a Methodist, mother of Naval Constructor T Gaines Roberts stationed at Mare Island Navy Yard, San Francisco, and several other children. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow morning by Rev W W Scott with interment at Oxford Cemetery at 10 30 o'clock.
