Ten Thousand Attend Gov Goebel Funeral in Frankfort

Special to The Evening Star reports about ten thousand strangers in Frankfort for Governor Goebel's funeral. Services were at the Capitol hotel at noon, followed by a procession to the cemetery where final rites will occur with addresses including Senator-elect J. L Blackburn. Governor Taylor has not signed the Louisville peace conference agreement, and another meeting is expected in Louisville tomorrow.

Wrenshall Succeeds Stimson as Plant Manager

President Elliott of the Southern Car and Foundry names H W Wrenshall district manager at the city plant replacing O M Stimson who resigned. H M Irwin is appointed superintendent of the foundry and Fred Bishop heads the rolling mill. Wrenshall also serves as assistant to the president.

Sheriff N. D. Meharg relocates his family from Jacksonville to Anniston and will reside in the county jail residence. Barbour Plant Sold At Auction In City

The Barbour Machine Works plant in the city sold at public auction at noon to E L Turner for 4050 dollars. The sale included the entire plant buildings and machinery on block 361 near Union depot with a 14 story machine shop and various outbuildings. Turner defeated T L Houser as bidding narrowed.

More Teachers Are Desired at Public Schools

Four supernumeraries are wanted for the public schools. Examinations will be held Friday at 2 30 p m and Saturday at 9 a m. Positions awarded to highest grade. no formal application needed. Applicants may come to Leighton Avenue school at the stated times. Salaries equal those of the teachers whose places they fill.

Police Court Cases Tried Today

Two cases appeared on the police court docket this morning. Jim Coker, colored, was charged with assault on Joe Miller, colored, who testified that Coker owed him twenty five cents and knocked him through the door of the Tenth street barber shop. Coker denied the debt and the hitting. The mayor fined him two dollars and costs. Thomas Wood, colored, was charged with a plain old spree last night and fined two dollars and costs.

Morgan Club Organization To Be Perfected Tonight

The meeting at 7:30 in the city court room aims to perfect the local Morgan club with about five hundred members already pledged. Officials may be named and committees appointed as the gathering is expected to be among the year’s notable political events in Anniston.
