In Doheather New York Leroy Mitchell and his son from Allen's Hill lie near death after a swarm of maddened honey bees attacked at their beehives. Their horse and another horse perished as the swarm engulfed workers and bystanders, while farmers respond and physicians report the men may not survive.
An edict orders punishment for the murderers of English missionary Brune in Chen nan Hu Nan. The killings arose from a riotous frenzy with beliefs the missionaries caused a cholera epidemic in Chea Chou. The victims had just arrived and were welcomed at a local mission.
Johnston of Broughton Georgia endured years of bronchitis and could not work. His wife also suffered until Dr King's New Discovery for Consumption cured them both. The ad touts it as the best throat and lung medicine, with guaranteed bottles priced 50 cents and 1.00, free samples at Miller Drug Co.
Early returns indicate Jelks leads in Jefferson County with a large expected majority as Alabama voters cast ballots for state offices including governor. Johnston leads Lee County. Henry Jelks, a negro, was shot and severely wounded by Char ley Coleman, another negro, near Jacksonville Saturday afternoon. The motive is unknown though Coleman was said to be drunk. The ball entered Jelks stomach. he remains alive but likely to die. Coleman was jailed in Jacksonville awaiting Jelks outcome.
Anniston meets Brewton in Montgomery on August 25. The Anniston lineup includes Matthews Leighton Blankenship Cogburn Buesse Hawley Steele Donnelly and Wilcox. Anniston has solid chances to win as they face Brewton today on the field.

Miss Vinnie Tucker of Dechard fell from a cliff at Forest Point in the early hours. Sidney Cowan of Nashville sprang to aid her, grabbing her dress and a clump of bushes as they slid down a precarious ledge. Both were hauled to safety by a rescue party after a perilous descent.
A race riot erupted at Haughville near Indianapolis between about 200 black and white workers from National Malleable Castings. Two people were killed earlier, stones and bricks flew, shots fired, and crowds surged. Ten arrests were reported, police delayed by distance, and company officials feared further clashes.
Luke KE Ryan of Brockton Massachusetts a 39 year old unmarried official at a local dry goods company was killed yesterday afternoon in the Grand hotel elevator. He was crushed instantly as the rear door was left open and his body forced through a five inch gap. The tragedy occurred in Indianapolis Lod August 25.
Royal Oak Lodge 106 schedules an excursion to Lithia Springs Georgia on Wednesday August 27 inviting all Odd Fellows and their families. Train departs Union Depot at 7 30 a m and returns from Springs at 5 p m with a day of leisure.
