Extra Policeman Nath Glosson was wounded on the head by a stranger on Tenth Street near Noble. He bled heavily before Dr. Gordon treated and ceased the bleeding. Glosson and the assailant exchanged blows with rocks as the confrontation escalated on the street.

Plans for a united council of mine workers unions
In Indianapolis on August 11 the executive committee of the United Mine Workers proposed convening a council of presidents and secretaries from 84 national and international unions to assist the Amalgamated Association. If acted on the plan would mobilize about 2,000,000 workers. President Gompers of the AFL is expected to issue the call, possibly for a Pittsburgh meeting.
