The list covers Governor and Auditor offices, education, agriculture, tax, land, and more with amounts ranging from 50 to 916.66, plus various clerks, guards, and prison expenses. The June convict hire costs add 7,112.69 for Elope No 10 and 4,360 for Flat Top, with overwork paid to prisoners. Although claims of enormous salaries persist, the records suggest modest official pay rolls.

Confederate veterans reunion set for Schenk's Springs tomorrow

The Confederate veterans of Calhoun, Cleburne and Erowah counties will hold their annual reunion at Schenk's Springs tomorrow and Thursday. Speeches will be made by Hon. J. W. Bush, Hon. J. Thomas Heflin, Hon. Woodson J. Martin, and Hon. Lon W. Grant. A large attendance and a great time is expected. Berry Going, who killed Pink Davis, was tried and sentenced to seven years in the penitentiary near Spring Garden.
