Boys State diary honors leaders and a grand Governor Ball
A Boys State participant recalls Nelson occupying Rep Jamison's seat. He notes band activities under Vincent DeNino of the Longhorn Band, and a famed speaker Dr Roe Bartell from Kansas City who would speak for $1 per pound. He praises Rep Randy Pendleton and the Governor Ball drawing 800 boys and 900 invitations for girls, with 700 attending. The writer declares Boys State the greatest, most organized experience of learning.
