OAS Approves Rights Resolution in Key Committee
The Organization of American States committee backed a U S backed human rights measure despite a bid to tie freedoms to terrorism. The vote was 14 in favor 0 opposed with eight abstentions. 13 yes needed. The resolution strengthens the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and heads to the plenary for final approval.
