Georgita the Central’s grand parlor car in Macon shop
A handsome new parlor car named Georgita is being built in the Central’s Macon shop for Gen. Alexander. Master Charpiot drew the plan, supervised by W A Goodyear. At 71 feet overall, it is the longest car yet, with five self-contained compartments, luxury furnishings, folding beds, French mirrors, a kitchen and butler’s pantry, and a dining room. Work targets Christmas completion, alongside two other coaches near completion and a special dump-coal casé car.

The Western Girl and Other Oddities From Caruth's Sketches
A humorous miscellany from Caruth's Overland sketches recounts Miss Lillian Blake of St. Vincent Minnesota as she stalks swamp bears with her father's shotgun after a wheat-hauling day. The tale mixes ribald exaggeration with regional satire and notes the editor's take on Minnesota girls.
