Sumter County Exhibit Draws Crowd At State Fair
Sumter county showcases home crafted decorations of grasses corn and cotton in a 21 by 72 foot display in the agricultural hall. Major W L Glessner oversees a living Rustic pagoda and temple built from hay and stalks, with vegetable pyramids and a vast cotton section highlighting every stage of cotton production. The display emphasizes simple home arts over ornate decorations and draws visitors, including a photo display of Americus streets and Andersonville stockade.
