Stewart County Primary Dispute Over Consolidating Returns
Richland Gazette reports a disagreement within the Democratic Executive Committee over when to consolidate county primary returns. Some members pushed for Saturday, others for the following Thursday, delaying inclusion of Richland precinct and the 19th. Judge Scott set next Tuesday for consolidation to avoid personal strife and maintain party unity. If the two precincts were excluded, M D Goode would edge out T J Orr for Tax Receiver, though Goode declined the nomination on those grounds. Holt er’s sheriff margin would shrink by about 75 to 100 votes but remain substantial.
