Sumter County Leads Georgia in Tax Increase Amid Real Estate Boom
Sumter County Georgia is projected to post the state's largest tax increase this year driven by rising real estate values and more improvements. Tax Receiver Mize predicts a near two million dollar rise, with Glynn’s increase over a million and Sumter likely to surpass it as both city and county totals climb. The heightened growth is tied to real estate demand around Americus and expanding improvements, a trend seen as a long-term boom for Sumter and Americus. A RECORDER reporter notes rapid local development, quoting a resident who survived illness to find nine buildings started along two streets shortly after leaving home.
