President Coolidge, in a La Fayette Day address from Baltimore, denounced a deliberate and determined effort to break down guarantees of the fundamental law by curbing domestic court jurisdiction. He warned whether America will allow itself to become a communist or socialist state, or remain American.
Geneva September six a peace resolution drawn by British and French delegations was unanimously adopted by the League of Nations assembly. Premier McDonald of Britain and Premier Herri t of France and Premier Theunis of Belgium received a letter from Chancellor Marx of Germany declaring he must publish immediately the proclamation denying responsibility for the World War, delaying it to avoid hindering London talks.
A warrant for the arrest of Luis Angel Firpo the Argentine heavyweight pugilist was issued by acting Secretary White of the Department of Labor. The order requires Firpo to appear before a board of inquiry for a hearing on deportation from the United States. The charge states Firpo recently brought or tried to bring an Argentine manicurist into the country for immoral purposes.

Sumter county singers, many from Americas, will travel to Oglethorpe on Sunday for the convention, per Chief John T. Bragg who leads local singers. The regular Third District sing for tomorrow is postponed to avoid conflicting with the Oglethorpe meeting. Some performers planned for Aggie period sing will join the assembly at Oglethorpe.
The Sumter County Teachers Association re organized at the courthouse to plan the year. A. B. Phillips Thalean was elected president with A E Pennington Andersonville as vice president Ruth Comer Pleasant Grove as secretary and treasurer. New teachers Ethridge Strickland and Mrs Lamb joined the group and a resolution invited Americus city teachers and the Third District Agricultural and Mechanical school to affiliate.
