Naval captain insults widow with letter in Shenandoah case
Mrs Zachary Landsdowne, widow of the dirigibles commander, testified that Captain Paul Foley of the Naval Board sent her a letter she called an insult to her husband’s memory. She said the letter urged her to waive legal defense for the Naval court and claimed the court had erred in labeling Shenandoah as a political flight against secretary Wilbur’s denial.

James H Page 78 died yesterday at his daughter Mrs J L Bradley’s home in Leslie after a six week illness due to old age. He lived in Sumter county forty years, previously on a Huntington district farm. Survived by two sons Will and Benjamin and daughter. Funeral and burial at Pleasant Grove Baptist church at 3:00 pm with Rev J S Winn and Rev James H Wilson officiating.

Thirteen Die As Two Fast Trains Collide In Fog
In Plainsboro New Jersey on November 12 a Pennsylvania Railroad collision between a St Louis express bound for New York and a Washington bound local, occurred in heavy fog. Thirteen people were killed and eleven bodies recovered with two more trapped in wreckage. Bodies were sent to Trenton and New Brunswick by train.

A crowd over 3000 lined Lamar Street from Jackson to Lee as the White Way system lit up at 730 pm. Dawson 25 pieces opened with a tune and the parade included the Kiwanis float with Miss Martha Ivey and Miss Georgina, followed by 260 school children singing. The event featured a bugle call, a street flood, flag ceremonies, and speeches by W L Walker and local officials. A prize window decoration went to Thomas L Bell Jewelry, and a special Amer Legion banquet honored veterans with Hoke Smith as guest of honor.
