Plains Ga May 14 A lively party hosted by Miss Annie Mae Brannon honored two young girls Martha Forrester and Evelyn Walters with games cream and cake. Nearby, local citizens attended Masonic and Knights Templar events in Americus and Valdosta while Rev Arnold preached at the Baptist church.
Mrs. E. A. Stevens has been summoned to the bedside of her father, Mr. EB. H. Cheek, who lies critically ill in Columbus.
Leslie Georgia May 14 Dr F F McNeal returned to Leslie last Tuesday after graduating from the University of Nashville and plans to practice his profession here. He will stay with Dr and Mrs A J Kemp. Mrs J C Hoffman of Cordelet visited Mrs A J Kemp. Carl Preston of Arabi visited Mr T J Wade. Miss Kate Stephens of Americus guest of Miss Stella Wade. Miss Rossie Williams returned home from Macon. Ira Cook of Albany paid a business trip to Leslie. Mrs Lucius Harvey is reported sick. Leslie High School rehearses for commencement on May with Rev J I Oxford of Mercer Endowment fund noting $300 raised. Mr G T Bass died at 4 a.m. age 59. survived by wife and seven children. Funeral at Mt Zion Church three miles south West with Rev W H Olmstead officiating. Misses Helen Morgan and Lillie Belle Scratchings were guests of Mr T J Wade’s family.

Katie Bernhardt named postmistress of DeSoto. The Ito school closed after four terms taught by Miss Marietta Brown from Montezuma and others. George Jones and others fished at Sisel Ga. upon return they shared fish stories. Unseasonably cool weather damaged crops in the area.
