A historic persuasive ad argues fever risks from quinine and urges choosing Johnson's Tonic for rapid health restoration. It touts harmlessness and 30 minute onset, claiming 17 years of success and 900 of 1000 cures, urging readers in Savannah, Georgia to switch from quinine to the tonic.
Advertises Lee Allen's stock for Monday and Tuesday with no. 3 hosiery for ladies misses and boys priced at 19 cents. Also promotes a large selection of Standard Prints in light colors at 43 4c per yard and linen torch lace edgings 2 to 4 inches wide at 5 cents per yard with no remnants.
Hong Kong reports describe General Ma defeated by Kwanis rebels who seized Fang-Cheng and killed or captured the garrison. The rebellion spreads through Kwang-Si, Tung, and Yun-Nan as government forces retreat, soldiers desert for higher pay and loot, and rebel Hung-Ming consolidates leadership with Tai-Hung ties.
Venezuelan insurgents supported by the revolutionary steamer Bolivar seized Juan Griego on Margarita and then moved toward Asuncion, capital of the island. Government troops were defeated and reports said insurgents would soon control the entire island.
In Fillata, a mob of about 200 Albanians attacked the town. Several were killed or wounded among both sides. Troops sent from Viana showed signs of disobedience over overdue pay, and no Christians took part in the clash.
In Madrid on March 19 the queen regent signed the appointments of the new ministry. The cabinet officers will assume their posts this afternoon.

Near Flowery Branch Georgia two white men J C Stover and Charley Pirkle are jailed for the outraging and killing of 75 year old Mrs Christina Blake. The bodies found with torn clothing show strong resistance and evidence suggests a prior crime. Stover 25 to 30, Pirkle about 18, Stover with a wife.
Opelika Alabama March 18 Bud Pitts a negro killed his wife with a shot to the side after a quarrel and arrest. He fled into the woods after firing at a boy in the yard as sheriffs and officers pursued him. The Gold Hill Copper Company held its annual meeting in New York naming officers. In Montgomery William Washington the negro who killed his wife in January was convicted of murder and sentenced to the mines for life. Lord Kimberley in London suffered a relapse after a period of illness.
Mine magnate Joseph Gill, long presumed dead by his Brooklyn family, was reported alive after twelve years captive among Australian bushmen. A letter from 1901 revealed his escape and return efforts via Macabebe scouts, detailing wounds and hopes to reunite with wife and children, with further notes on his prior mining success near Sydney.
From Hong Kong on March 19, reports say southern rebels deal crushing defeats to imperial troops. General Ma and Marshal Su state suppression is impossible with current forces and request reinforcements from Yuan Shi Kai. Rebels capture towns in Kwang Tung, Kangxi, Kwei Chou, and hold Foo Chuen district in Yunnan.
