In North Carolina at Bethel William Parsons was cut in two between a baggage car and engine tender while attempting to board a southbound train. The two body parts were carried into the baggage car and he remained conscious, asking to die in the open air. He recounted a childhood plan to enlist in the army before dying at Hapo after being treated by Dr. Gibbon. This is reported as a unique case of survival after complete separation above the lips.

John B Richards and W H Harris, Americans, found a gold mine in Zacapa province washing $17 in one hour. After seeking to record their claim they were warned to leave. They returned to the claim, were seized on June 10, jailed, and transported to Port Barrios. Richards, Harris, and their treatment are being protested to Washington.
