On or about July 1 we conduct a semi annual inventory to convert goods into cash. Bargains offered across all departments including dry goods clothing shoes hats and gents furnishings. Every article is at a bona fide under value price for cash and no fake bargains are advertised.

The First regiment Georgia Infantry with 1,000 officers and men arrived at Chickamauga camp after leaving Griffin. They are in first class shape, well uniformed and equipped, with Battery A of the First Georgia Artillery accompanying. Recruits arrive daily and the unit prepares for expeditions to Cuba or Porto Rico as needed.
In a dawn encounter off Morro Castle near Santiago de Cuba, Massachusetts steam cutters under Lt Harlow and a New York cutter under Cadet Powell exchanged fire with Spanish infantry in a blockhouse. The Texans Vixen and Texas aided with rapid guns. A landsman, Kennedy, was wounded but expected to recover as the Yankee gunboat pursued a Spanish 500-ton vessel before withdrawing.
Lack of available ships delays army commissary contracts for refrigerated meat in Cuba and for starving natives. Vessels may be impressed while refrigeration equipment is installed to keep meat fresh during transit.
