Peach Movements Falling Off Now
The peach movement in Sumter county is at a low ebb as early varieties mostly shipped. In the week ended June 11 Americus handled 247 crates, 178 from Central of Georgia and 69 from Seaboard, while the prior week total shipments were 284 with 193 from Central and 91 from Seaboard. Growers report a revival next week with Belle varieties and thousands of crates bound for other markets. An extra messenger was added to the evening southbound train at 7:30 and the morning northbound train at 6:30 to aid shipment to Florida and Birmingham markets. Mr and Mrs W E Watkins hosted Miss Pauline Reed and Miss Gloria Watkins and Miss Evelyn Black of Marietta. Reed will visit longer.

McDonald Dies After Florida Motor Car Collision

Rev M Hudson Dies in Macon Pastor of Second Street Methodist
Americus relatives received a telegram announcing the death of Rev J N Hudson at Macon after a six month illness from a serious stomach ailment. He was 50 and leaves a wife two sons J N Hudson Jr of Graves Ga and W L Hudson of Hillsboro NC a daughter Mrs A W Glass of Macon and three brothers T G Hudson R M Hudson and J Hudson. Funeral services were held in Macon and the remains were sent to Ellaville for interment. Hudson served 25 years in the South Georgia conference and was known in Americus and other Georgia cities.

Central's signal system wiring work begins
The first wires for the Central block signal system arrived this morning. Two wiremen start installation under General Foreman L. H. Jackson with T. S. McCaleb as foreman. The Albany to Americus line, about 35 miles, will use 45 wires, eight in Americus yard. Special paths protect trains on the busy line, and full operation is expected in several months.
