W B Freeman aged 62 was found with a bullet wound behind his right ear on the grounds of the Lutheran church of the Redeemer in Macon Georgia. A coroner a jury verdict ruled death by own action. The body was located by Mrs T W English and Miss Mary Freeman nieces of the deceased. Thomas F. Hammond aged 72, former flantan and father of P. W. Hammond of The Constitution, died Tuesday in Philadelphia where he had lived eight years. Funeral plans to be set after his son’s arrival in Atlanta. Walter S. Augusta-Aiken Railway suit on fares and rates dismissed
In Atlanta on Tuesday a federal district court dismissed the Augusta Aiken Railway and Electric Company suit against the Georgia Public Service Commission. The case, begun in May 1921, challenged PSC orders cutting street car fares and electric light and power rates in the territory served by the Augusta Aiken company.

Manion accepts second trial in Wadley bank case
In Louisville, W C Manion, former cashier of the defunct Jefferson County Bank at Wadley, faced a second trial on three fraud indictments. Judge Hardeman denied a new trial. Manion pleaded guilty to one count and a $7,000 verdict plus costs against him and his surety, American Surety Company of York, was entered. A separate $500 criminal verdict was also recorded. In Atlanta, Mrs Frank Hughes stood trial in Fulton Superior Court for slaying her mother in law. Her husband Frank Hughes is charged as an accessory. Subpoenas were issued as the trial was set for 9 am Wednesday before Judge G H Howard.

Athens January 23 Alumni hall at the University of Georgia will be completed and ready for occupancy in March at a cost of 182000. Body of Barber Found in Clark Cabin Near Cordele
At a sawmill on the Bagley plantation near Cordele the body of Edward Barber was found inside a cabin occupied by Oscar Clark. The fight left Barber dead from a shotgun blast and two others wounded, with Clark missing. Deputies report a white mob, possibly Ku Klux Klan members, attacked the cabin after a quarrel involving Holliday of Cordele. Four Die As Cruiser Tacoma Wrecked At Vera Cruz
Washington dispatch reports the cruiser Tacoma wrecked off Vera Cruz with four crew members dead. Captain Herbert Sparrow and three radio operators are among the missing, bodies aboard the ship. The remaining 48 crew stay aboard naval tugs while 278 sailors were evacuated by Richmond. Omaha and six destroyers are due as rescuers.

William F. Creasy of Fort Thomas Kentucky was acquitted by a Mineola jury of murdering Edith Leroy a Freeport school teacher in her boarding house after their engagement ended. The boiler of the Erie railroad locomotives hauling the morning express from Pittsburg to Cleveland exploded at Aliquippa Pennsylvania 28 miles west of here while the train ran at 40 miles an hour. Engineer George Clark fireman Kuechler and J R Meade road foreman were killed.
