Forty Lives Lost in Walla Walla At Sea Collision
Eureka California January 2 The steamer Walla Walla sank after colliding with an unknown iron vessel near dawn. Forty lives are believed lost. sixty passengers and crew were saved by the Dispatch after escaping in boats and rafts. The Walla Walla carried 36 first class, 28 second class passengers and a crew of 60. The unknown French bark had no lights and the wreck occurred in hazy conditions.

Defiant John Robinson Hanged in Dublin Georgia
