Advertises Johnsons Chill and Fever Tonic as a wonderful cure for malaria. Claims quick blood entry and rapid elimination of malaria poison, portraying the product as a universal remedy for malarial trouble.
The funeral of late United States Senator William Joyce Sewell was held at his Camden mansion with Bishop Scarborough leading services. Government and state troops guarded the procession to Harleigh Cemetery where 13 gun salutes were fired at the grave. Honorary pallbearers included War Secretary Root and Governors Voorhees and Murphy. Distinguish ed men from New Jersey and nearby states attended.
Uriah Porter, accused of killing Joseph Fincher and terrorizing Crawford and Russell county, surrendered to Deputy Sheriff John L. Moon in Opelika. Porter, escorted by friend Mr. Davis, claimed fear of a mob drove the surrender and that accounts of his deeds were exaggerated. He was taken to the Lee county jail with rejoicing reported in the region. Elsewhere, Mamie Laporte of Boston was robbed on a Boston and Albany sleeping car of 1600 worth of jewelry near Albany.
In Columbus Ohio factions backing Senator Foraker and Senator Hanna claim to hold votes to organize the legislature, but neither side has a majority. Nine house members remain undecided, key to the outcome. Foraker backers expect senate control. a division of honors appears likely with open chances for either side to win. Also: John Fryer arrested in Waynesboro after a decade old Coffee county killing, using alias Henry Ashley.

Carolina traffic improves with trains resuming except to Murphy. western routes steady. washouts filled as Seaboard and Plant rail lines operate.
Coroner Jackson Grimes returned from Fairfax county after an inquest into the shooting death of Henry Merritt by Owen Philpot. The jury charged murder as the cause. Merritt was fatally wounded in the altercation. Both men identified as negroes.
Indianapolis reports Henry L Bruner head of Butler University biology foresees future humans as taller with larger chests and limbs and a brain ruled body. He predicts loss of floating ribs appendix and little toes making a four toed giant with longer life fewer diseases and mastery by thought saving machinery. He cites racial uniformity in eye and hair color but foresees persistent variations. The future man may predetermine sex and experience lasting extended lifespans.
