Washington February 25 1924 The Weather outlook for February 25 to March 1 1924 indicates much cloudiness and occasional rains for the week. Temperatures will be near or somewhat above the normal.
The will of former president Woodrow Wilson was filed for formal probate in Washington District Court. The widow Edith Bolling Wilson receives the entire estate, except a provision granting daughter Miss Margaret Wilson an annual income of 2500 dollars while she remains unmarried.
John D. Mathis Post No. 2 American Legion will meet at the courthouse at 7 30 tonight to finalize block plans for a Columbus trip and initiate candidates into the FortY and Eighth Society. Approved applicants include Jas A Fort Robert C Lane J G Holst H B Williams and others. Reports on the membership drive will be presented and a home talent play is being considered with an April 18 show date planned.
Atlanta Feb 25 Another step in aiding farmers moves forward as the Senate Agriculture Committee favors Senator W de Harris of Georgia for a 10 million revolving fund to sell nitrate of soda and calcium arsenate at cost until June 30, 1925 Harris plans to offer the measure on the Senate floor as part of the Norbeck Burtness bill to aid Northwestern farmers President Coolidge urged relief for the Northwest but did not mention Southern farmers in his Congress address prompting Harris to spoke out in a supporting statement
Forbes, the renowned financial expert, expressed surprise at Atlanta’s conditions and predicted the city will soon rank among the world’s greatest, noting its potential and momentum as of February 25 in Atlanta.

Senate oil committee resumes hearings on the $100,000 loan to Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall. Washington bank officials deny McLean's 1921 balance exceeded $10,000, while publisher McLean had testified about uncashed checks. C Bascomb Slemp, a presidential secretary, testified about Palm Beach visits and urged Fall to tell the truth about the oil charges.
E B Everett, vice president of the Americas and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, will lead the organization for the next three months. Lovelace Eve was re elected president and asked for an indefinite leave of absence, with Everett handling all duties and correspondence during the first quarter.
About two hundred delegates from around forty independent telephone companies converge on Atlanta for the Georgia Association of Independent Telephone Companies annual convention, held today and tomorrow to discuss industry matters and policies.
A. B. Phillips presents a petition to County Executive Committee chairman J. A. Davenport asking to reconsider allowing Americas residents to vote for county superintendent. Signers include Dr. W. H. Houston W. W. Webb E. Spann and W. C. Jordan, urging adherence to the state code section 147 separating independent systems. Chairman Davenport will consult others before action, with secretary Fort ill and unable to comment.
Plans for several new rooms on the first floor of the state capitol in Atlanta are being drafted and will start once finalized. Existing state departments in the capitol are crowded, and the new offices will house multiple agencies as announced.
In Cleveland on February 25 a pistol fusilade at the home of 21 year old Mrs Nettie Annellia left two men dead, two others questioned, and the woman said to have acted after gunfire shattered her windows. Her husband disappeared after threats were made.
Mr and Mrs Joe Johnson from Lakeland Florida faced a deadly blaze at the Hotel Valdes in Valdosta last week. Fire officials finally lowered a ladder to their window and the couple escaped from their third floor apartment despite dense smoke and a delayed alarm.
Washington February 25 The Supreme Court refused to pass upon Will Avery who was convicted in the Southern District of Georgia for possession of an illicit still and sought a Circuit Court of Appeals review. The action preserves lower court rulings and ends his bid for review.
Atlanta February 25. Prospects are not good for a 15 million dollar Georgia peach crop. Last season about 8,000 cars moved the crop, but many new bearing trees will push needed cars to 18,000 next season. The peach belt now extends into Jones, Hancock, Sumter, Webster, Schley and Marion counties. Middle Georgia counties claim fruit is firmer, finer and a better shipper. Experts see spread of peach acreage and enhanced marketing.
Joseph M. Dixon governor of Montana and former Roosevelt movement leader is seriously considered for secretary of the navy in President Coolidge's cabinet to replace Edwin Denby who resigned.
In St Louis on February 25 M. J. Conner a wealthy gambler and two women were killed when the car they rode in collided with a freight train three miles southwest of the city. One woman was Zelma Wander 23. Her fiancé Joseph H Burns a live stock salesman was seriously injured. The other woman's identity was not established.
Atlanta February 25 The Georgia Supreme Court will likely rule at the March term on the state tobacco tax dispute in E K Lloyd tobacco dealers v Richardson Fulton County tax collector. The Fulton County court has ordered buyers of revenue stamps to provide a surety bond, with personal bonds no longer accepted.
