St Louis February 26 United States Senator James A Reed opened his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination with a sharp attack on oil disclosures. He charged that William Gibbs McAdoo would receive about 940,000 in legal fees from oil magnate Doheny, Morse interests, and motion picture concerns, though McAdoo did not appear in any lawsuit.
Atlanta designated as a cooperating city in a national drive by major auto industry groups to study and prevent traffic crashes. The effort collects data from newspapers clubs and police to analyze street locations accident types weather road conditions and contributing factors with aim to reduce fatalities and injuries nationwide.

Washington officials presented a sheaf of telegrams from Washington to Albert B Fall and Edward B McLean at Palm Beach as the oil committee met in executive session to review them. Senator Walsh said no immediate plan to question Daugherty over a letter about Sinclair oil stock dealings after Tea Pot Dome. Some messages may be released tomorrow as the inquiry resumes.

In Vera Cruz at Paso del Macho Gen Anaceto Lopez defeated a revolutionary command. Rebels suffered 250 dead and wounded. Three rebel chiefs were captured, court martialed and executed. Two federal officers were killed.
Secretary of War Serrano said Obregon troops crushed rebel forces under Jose Moran at De LaCurue. He stated the defeat makes the occupation of Tuxpam imminent within days. Coincidentally, Almazan forces expect to occupy Jalapa as Tuxpam falls.
A large delegation of Shriners from Al Sihah Temple Macon will visit Americus Wednesday night for a major get together at the Masonic Temple. George E. Patterson potentate of Al Sihah will lead the Macon group, with 50 to 100 members expected from Macon. Americus Shriners prepare a regal welcome. all local Shriners are urged to attend.
Representative Woodruff of Michigan deserted with others, negotiations split Republican insurgents over the Longworth compromise on the revenue bill. The plan sets a 37.5 percent maximum surtax, with normal rates of 2 and 6 percent on incomes below 4000, reflecting higher estate taxes.
Mrs Shields and Miss Hollingsworth in Middle Georgia sanitarium after a February collision on Houston Road seven miles from Macon. Miss Ella Mae Hollingsworth 15 suffered a wrenched shoulder and facial bruises. Mrs Shields head injuries. Miss Eileen Tyler 24, a Dawson teacher, drove the Ford. Also treated for nerves were Mrs Will Pace and son Will Pace Jr. The other driver Waters of Macon escaped injury. The group was en route from Atlanta to Dawson.
W C Vereen, Moultrie banker and manufacturer, was elected president of the Moultrie Chamber of Commerce at the annual meeting attended by many members. A working fund of 8000 dollars was raised quickly. vice presidents named were F Ri Pidcock and Horace McDowell. The board includes leading local business figures such as R M Morrison, J N Pidcock, and L O Rogers.
George Randolph Chester, noted author and playwright, died early today in New York. The obituary notes his contributions to literature and theater, reflecting on his prolific year and a career spanning several decades.
