Bascom Myrick editor notes rushed schedule but advertises 10 day sale of ladies and misses wraps with a broad stock from this season. Opening new cases of white and colored blankets offered very cheap. Best bargain 100 pairs White amb's Wool extra size 114 blankets with tinted borders at 4.50 per pair, claimed unmatched elsewhere.

Memorials Show Senate Debates on Chicago World’s Fair

Washington December 16 memorials were presented to the Senate opposing the opening of the Chicago world’s fair and urging government loan of 5 million dollars. Other memorials urged women’s suffrage life-saving service expansion and a Niagara ship canal. House session was brief as Speaker Crisp announced the Rules Committee makeup and Bartin was sworn in after an absence. Tennessee’s L C Houk died, prompting adjournment. Crisp unveiled a gavel sent by his Americus constituents, praised by many congressmen.

Bicycle Tournament at Furlow lawn and civic plans

Furlow lawn is proposed as the site for a bicycle tournament after a committee judged nearby Rees park unsuitable. If approved by Americus Investment Company, a fence and a cinder track will be graded. Gate receipts aim to cover wheelmen costs, with hopes of buying the lawn later. A vigilant farmer foils a planned on board ambush by Miles Walker and Tom Green to kill conductor Snyder and Daniel. Green is captured, a pistol found, and Walker flees after a pistol shot. Green convicted and sent to the chain gang. Sheriff Holder pursues Walker. Also, Chas Allen found guilty of arson and sentenced to five years. Ladies of the First Methodist prepare for Mr Williams’s reception at the parsonage Friday.

Murder trial unfolds in Johnston's station case at Flint River

In a 1892 Georgia case at Johnston's station on the Flint River a sensational murder trial centers on Boley Daniel and John Green.
