In Americus Georgia Bascom Myrick editor notes a rush in serving customers prevents a full ad for Sunday. For the next ten days the store promises unprecedented bargains on ladies and misses wraps and newly opened white and colored blankets sold at low prices, including 100 pairs of white lambs wool blankets at 5.00 per pair.
Senate members introduced and referred to committees measures to fund a Supreme Court building site, endow Howard University, erect a Columbus statue, build Hudson and East River bridges, display the US flag publicly, strengthen coastal defenses, reorganize infantry, and adopt standard rail car couplers. A foreign relations inquiry on Sonora Chihuahua Coahuila annexation was also ordered. House not in session. Speaker Crisp busy naming committees amid illness and holiday departures.
The city holds a to day election to fill three alderman seats after expulsion of terms. Regular nominees seek support while rumors of dark horses circulate. Voters urged to attend polls. registration lists are small and every name matters amid tense atmosphere. Also notes on local deaths and a theater review.

A Monday night fire at a barn owned by A Turpin near Americus destroyed fodder corn bay and a carriage house, with a bale of cotton burning. a small negro boy named Ben Aaron was rescued as the roof collapsed, and the Turpin home narrowly avoided ignition. The loss was total with no insurance on either building.
Rev J B Johnstone of the Methodist church preached his farewell sermon at First Methodist church to a large audience, then spoke at Second Methodist in East Americas.
