In Lexington, Bob Ballard leader of the Menifee county moonshine gang was killed early today after a clash with twenty prohibition agents pursuing him for the slayings of two federal officers. Agent Cole also died in the gunfight and Chas Ballard was wounded.
In New York a Bermuda merchant, Frank C. Thomas, reportedly delirious from pneumonia, jumped from a tenth floor hotel window and was killed instantly. He had been ill for several days and formerly lived in Albany, Georgia.
London reports Ambassador Harvey has been recalled for consultation by the American embassy. He will sail on December 23, and Mrs Harvey will depart a day earlier for a Madeira visit.
Washington reports that Ambassador Harvey was recalled for consultation, with officials declining to detail Hughes’s questions. The move is linked to the German reparations dispute aggravating tensions between Great Britain and France.
L W Dixon a La Crosse merchant sustained multiple broken ribs after a fall from a porch Thursday night in the dark. Though advanced in age grave apprehension is felt, his condition is reported as comfortable. He is brother to Olin Dixon of Americus and a well known Sumter county resident.
Savan na December 15 Clyde McGee age 5 son of W W Mc Gee of Halcyondale is hospitalized in critical condition after a cane grinding accident yesterday morning. His head was caught between the shaft of a cane mill and a post. Other injuries are reported.
Fire department rushed to a noon call at the home of John B Ansley on South Lee Street when a short circuited electric fixture in the superintendent's second floor office sparked a blaze. The fire was quickly extinguished with negligible damage.
Rep Rankin of Mississippi says no single leader can bind the farm bloc and denies desertion by any member over Henry Ford’s Muscle Shoals proposal. Rep Kearns of Ohio accuses the Ford offer of misleading the public as Dickinson’s bill faces criticism from Alabama Power and fertilizer interests.

Paris Dec 15 Premier Poincare, outlining progress on reparations and Turkish peace talks, declared to the chamber of deputies he would retire gracefully if the chamber deemed another cabinet necessary, praising his work for France and readiness to step down if a stronger cabinet could be formed.
Two Lanier High School instructors, Miriam Sams of Jackson and Elizabeth Benton of Monticello, were seriously hurt when an auto carrying them plunged through a bridge railing onto railroad tracks below. Driver Troy C. Davis, a Macon lawyer, escaped with shock and a mangled finger. They were brought to Macon on a Central of Georgia special train and rushed to hospital with critical and severe injuries.
