Albany April 6 Henry Ford said he believes Congress will act on his Muscle Shoals bid. He aimed to show what the power there could do, with estimates up to a million horsepower. Two thirds could support fertilizer production, leaving part for industrial use. Ford was in Albany to meet his wife passing through from Fort Myers, Florida.

Women Found Slain at Staten Island Rendezvous Spot
Miss Bessie McMahon of Utica and Mrs Irene Blandino of Jersey City were found murdered with throats cut along a lonely Dongan Hills road in Staten Island. A receipt identified Mrs Blandino’s artificial leg, and police linked the scene to bootlegger activity from the past winter. The two young women, about 21, were found by a milkman, one on each side of the road, their bodies covered with brush.

Valdosta announces that Georgia Alabama Power will transmit hydro electric power to the city soon. The plant near Albany in Baker county now under Day Zimmerman control will extend lines to Americus and then along the Southern Railway to Valdosta. Gerald Chapman, leader of the million dollar New York mail robbery, nearly escapes again after being found in a hospital basement with feet braced against a boiler. Sheriff and deputies crack down on shine in Americus
Sheriff Harvey and deputies tightened liquor enforcement in Sumter county leading to bond holds for Lou Walker and Homer Patterson on liquor law violations. A woman on Wild Street near the Central depot had liquor secreted in a home where a three gallon supply of shine in sealed syrup cans was found.
