Two Negroes Executed in Texas Electric Chair

In Huntsville Texas on September 28 two black inmates C T Alexander and Tom Ross were executed by electric chair for murders. Alexander slain his wife Mattie in Harris county. Ross killed Dave Patterson paymaster at a logging camp in Nacogdoches County. White man J B Silver received a further reprieve from gubernatorial clemency.

Governor Grants Reprieve Pending Court Action

October 26 by Governor Moody. The reprieve pauses execution to give the court of criminal appeals time to act on a second motion for rehearing in Silver's behalf. Meanwhile in Gloucestershire an 83 year old woman died of starvation at Chipping Sodbury after refusing charitable help.
