Testimony concluded in El Dorado Arkansas defendant K Hammed and Sam Ollie Clibe of Picher Oklahoma in a major bankruptcy case. They allegedly opened stores across Oklahoma Texas Louisiana and Arkansas to exploit bankruptcy laws. Clibe allegedly filed bankruptcy papers claiming goods belonged to him while Hammed operated under his name. Thirty five witnesses have been subpoenaed. trial expected to resume tomorrow with Reeder and Reeder representing defendants and McCutcheon Mood prosecuting.
Congressman Dan E. Garrett of Texas said he opposes personal prohibition views of Governor Smith and President Wilson but will campaign for Hoover only if he takes a stand on prohibition. He urged anti bolters to seek a common ground to unite the Democratic party.
Groom and Amarillo joined in a day at the Amarillo Tri-State fair led by the Groom Boys band and banker J W Knorpp. About 200 Groom residents rode in with a police escort as Panhandle Claude football drew a large morning crowd and locals toured the fairgrounds.
Roy Flowers and Jack Pounder were fined $100 each in police court this morning for vagrancy and turned over to the county court with charges of theft by false pretenses for using a trick knife deal on two local boys and securing $20.
John Goff reports the theft of a Dodge touring car from the Fairgrounds gate last evening. The Texas license plate 773-046, engine number A-03908 plus 15, front tires Federal 80x77, rear All State 2x6.00, mileage about 24,000. Contact 6112.
With three programs remaining at the Tri State fair officials urge Panhandle and Amarillo residents to attend. Gate receipts show about 700 dollars opened, 1000 from yesterday's rodeo, leaving roughly 10200 to pay expenses. Highlights include rodeo bullfight football game Amarillo High vs Oklahoma City High Saturday and three more Winter Garden revue performances.
Congressman Guvin Williams of Decatur and Congressman Sam Rayburn of Bonham will address the Democratic rally at the Fairgrounds this afternoon after the rodeo, around 4 o clock. Williams is a familiar figure in Amarillo from a two years ago visit as Texas Grand Master of the Masonic lodge.
Panhandle high school defeated Claude 12 to 0 on the Tri State fair park gridiron this morning. Claude rallied after an early deficit and outplayed Panhandle in the third quarter but could not score. The game featured two strong class B teams in the conference.
West Palm Beach plans a simple funeral for Florida's 2400 storm dead. Eight ministers from the city union will conduct the service at Woodlawn cemetery over graves of more than 700 storm victims.

William Allen White arrives back in New York from a two month European trip and plans to reenter the political fight within 24 hours. He acknowledged accepting 500 dollars for an Atlantic City speech to the National Electric Light Association and declined to comment further on past criticisms of Governor Alfred E. Smith.
The traveling salesmen banquet at the Herring hotel will begin at six o clock Saturday evening to allow 1200 traveling men to reach the Tri State fair grounds for the final performance. Funeral services for infant Mark Askew, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Askew, were held at the N. S. Griggs and Sons chapel. Rev. George H. Bryant of North Buchanan Street Methodist church officiated. Burial followed in Liana cemetery.
Testimony finished this morning and counsel arguments anticipated before noon recess in district criminal court. Ted Hart, 18, a smelter on trial for a statutory offense, remains in care as the case heads toward a probable verdict late afternoon or at night. The state and defense closed at 10 55 p m with Judge Henry Griggs presiding.
Commander Richard E Byrd departs New York for a two year Antarctic expedition with 50 companions. He will go via Boston and San Pedro to join the Larsen at Dunedin New Zealand. The Larsen carrying four airplanes and aviation crew sails from Norfolk and should depart Oakland on October 6.
Ohio state senator George Bender urged Governor Donahey to launch a state investigation into the Lorain shooting of Betty Heywood by three special prohibition officers. The incident prompted calls for a grand jury inquiry and a county probe, as authorities hold three officers on bonds in connection with the gunfire that wounded the 22 year old woman.
