Mayor Joe A. Jenkins designates Saturday May 23 as Memorial Day with poppy sale by the American Legion Auxiliary. The proclamation lauds Memorial Day as honoring both war and peace heroes and urges deepening reverence amid war and economic stress to strengthen national character. Given May 21, 1942.

The Security Benefit Association hosts its last birthday dinner Monday at 7 PM in the W. O. W. Hall. April and May birthday members are honored guests, others missing dinners may attend as honored guests. Mrs. Mary Gristy oversees arrangements and dancing will follow.
Word has been received of the marriage of Miss Margaret Terry Myrick to Fr. John Greer Jr on April 11. Mrs. Greer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Myrick of Nogales Arizona and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lewis of 831 Carolina Street. The couple will reside in Santa Fe.
