Daily Retail Market Survey reports Friday markets in Amarillo with large fresh fish stocks and plentiful vegetables. Prices ease on many items: apricots, okra, tomatoes, lettuce, greens, beans, cabbage, cucumbers, and fruit variety include figs at 30 cents a dozen and watermelon 3 cents a pound. Meats and dairy stable. fish selection broad with most species 40 cents a pound and red fish 35 cents.

Bids Sought for Gravel Paving on Western Avenue Amarillo
Bids are being received for a paving project on Western avenue from the West highway to near Amarillo country club. About 3,000 cubic yards of gravel will be hauled and laid in an eight inch layer with surface treatment. Bids open August 27 at 2 pm. county engineer J W Ryder notes grading is nearly finished and paving will start soon after award.
