Queen Marie of Roumania has decided to visit the United States again and hopes to start soon after the mourning period for King Ferdinand ends. The statement was given to an Associated Press correspondent. Local note lists a chicken dinner at the Thistle in Amarillo with hours Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The forecast calls for tonight and Thursday to be partly cloudy. Temperatures at 7 am 72 degrees, 8 am 74, 9 am 118, 10 am 83, 11 am 85, noon 87, and 1 pm 83 with record highs from a year ago at 91 and 62 degrees.
New York July 27 United Press June Mathis renowned screenwriter collapsed during The Squall at Forty-eighth Street Theater while watching with her mother. She died in an alley after being removed from the theater. Cause of death pending medical exam.

The Texas Court of Civil Appeals affirmed a district court order denying an injunction against holding the Hansford county seat election. The ruling holds the law’s language is clear that an election may be held within two years, not sooner or later. Nine Panhandle counties face similar seat relocation under the new law, with Hansford’s August 6 vote still on track unless a rebearing motion is filed.
Washington reports Lieut. D C Champion’s altitude flight ended in disappointment as his engine failed during a seven mile drop. His barograph showed 8 669 feet, half a mile below the world record of 40 810 feet set by Callizo of France.
Release of Russell Johnson, an American kidnaped July 19 in Mexico, was reported to the U S state department by the American consul at Chihuahua Thomas McNeely. The note confirms Johnson’s release and mentions the earlier abduction.
