New London Croydon Airport Opens With World Class Facilities
London January 12. The Croydon air terminus is claimed to be the most perfectly equipped commercial airport. Built at about a million and a quarter dollars by the air ministry, it replaces the old airdrome with two huge hangars for seventy large planes. A 100 foot control tower houses radio traffic officers meteorologists and a night lighting system with powerful floodlights and a neon beacon. Electric guidance cables and dashboard color changes assist pilots en route. A domed booking hall offers tickets to distant destinations including Moscow.
