Hanson Post to Have Annual Election Meet
Hanson Post No 54 of the American Legion will hold its annual election of officers tonight along with the post annual report. Commander J Sebastian invites all members to participate. The Legion Auxiliary, led by Mrs Will Benton, will hold an initiation with Canyon Auxiliary guests. A Voiture et Chevaux session will plan the December 16 promenade, with refreshments served after meetings.

Scouts to attend film screening Friday at Central Presbyterian annex
Every scout troop in the city is to be represented Friday night for the educational film When the Elk Come Down. The event also includes Isaac Walton league members with refreshments afterward. The film follows elk life on a government reserve and shows unsportsmanlike destruction of game, secured through A I Bridenstine of the United States Biological Survey.

Birds Shine at Memphis Poultry Show and Amarillo Run
In Memphis the Third Annual County District Poultry Show opened for a three day exhibit with over 400 birds entered and judging under way. Breeders report many birds will enter the Tri State Poultry Show in Amarillo beginning December 11. The Arnwood opera house houses the display. Mrs. A J Lawler, wife of a Denver yard master, was summoned to Shawnee, Oklahoma, due to her mother’s serious illness.

Sorghum Bill Gains Noted Railway Honor
In the December Rock Island magazine a profile features W. H. Gruhlkey a roadmaster on the BE Paso Amarillo division known as Sorghum Bill for a bold track maintenance act. When ballast failed near Amarillo he used hundreds of sorghum bundles to lift the track and keep trains running.
