Railways May Raise Revenue For Aid Loans
The Interstate Commerce Commission dropped limits on railroads extending new revenue to fund loans for weaker lines. It found no jurisdiction over lending between common carriers and would neither approve nor disapprove the proposed loan plan. Railroads may file tariffs to implement surcharges with immediate or 30 day notice. A dissenting commissioner criticized the majority for fear of backing the pooling plan.
