Partly cloudy tonight. Thursday unsettled with possible rain or snow. West Texas sees increasing clouds and likely rain west, rain or snow east at night, warmer in central areas. New Mexico remains unsettled with snow in the north and varying precipitation south. Amarillo highs near 47 and low around 33 this afternoon.
Gas land and royalty owners from every Panhandle field met at the Amarillo Hotel to form a united group. They plan legal action to secure higher gas prices after Texoma Natural Gas paid two cents per unit and returned many checks. A ten member committee was named to pursue suits and coordinate with West Texas Chamber of Commerce.
Sidney S. Lenz and Oswald Jacoby extended their lead over Ely Culbertson in the bridge battle, winning four of seven rubbers to widen the margin to 2 075 points from 1 715. The session featured bets, banter, and the first no trump slam by Jacoby and Lenz, plus a rule change setting session start times at 7 PM on four nights each week.
Washington December 9 The Hoover Mellon budget proposal calls for broad tax increases to raise about 2.23 billion dollars in the next two years and to curb a looming 4.44 billion dollar deficit. It targets incomes inheritances tobacco auto radio telephone and realty taxes with new levies beginning January 1 and exemptions cut for individuals and dependents. The plan aims to pass through Congress where Democrats control the House and revenue bills originate amid likely opposition.
Tokyo reports the government will instruct its League of Nations representative Kenkichi Yoshizawa to accept the Manchurian peace resolution in full. The decision sets the stage for formal endorsement by Japan at the council.

Hampton Virginia December 9. Twenty three additional Commonwealth witnesses are called for the second day of the trial of Professor Elisha Kent Kane on charges of drowning his wife. Prosecution expects to use the entire day to finish testimony.
U S federal workers in Amarillo formed a new local chapter led by R F Nelson of the helium plant with B H Street J F Cannon and Frank Haynes as officers. The group plans to affiliate with the National Federation of Federal Employees which backs civil service reforms including classification expansion, a central agency, retirement after 30 years, a civil service court of appeals, standardized leave, a one day rest in seven, efficiency ratings, promotion intervals, merit system extension, and improved personnel matters.
The Texas Supreme Court upheld the will of the late Mrs. Kate Ferguson Morton of Haskell. It left former Governor James E. Ferguson and his brother Alvah Ferguson each $100 from an estate valued around $300,000.
Robert Headrick, 22, from McKinney Texas, died after being shot by police during a pursuit in Oklahoma City. Headrick had been questioned about ownership of the automobile he drove as officers sought to question him Monday.

Thousands of Panhandle and New Mexico residents will greet Kris Kringle in Amarillo tomorrow at 11 AM as Santa leads a parade with twelve reindeer and various characters.
