Regulation Tightens Lighting on Vehicles Under Traffic Code
A state traffic code update restricts vehicle lighting with spotlights and driving lamps. Provisions set limits on number, mounting heights, and beam intensity, including rules for multi beam front lighting and mandatory night visibility standards. After January 1, 1948, new vehicles must comply with the changes.
Night driving rules for multiple beam headlights in Texas
Texas traffic guidance states that vehicles with multiple beam indicators use the upper beam when clear. When another vehicle approaches within 500 feet the driver should switch to the lower beam to avoid glare. Both drivers must dim their headlights to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.
