Odom Starts Solo World Flight From Cairo
Pilot William P. Odom began a solo attempt to beat Wiley Post’s 1933 186 hour record flying a converted A-26 bomber “Bombshell” from Cairo toward Arachi India. He had completed 22 hours 46 minutes of the 19,600 mile route with refueling and awaits tail winds for the India leg. He cannot be reached by telephone beyond 1,000 miles from Lake Bluff due to transmitter range.
