Dale Denies Bribe Offer To Lobby In Texas Trial
Former Representative F. A. Dale testified in district court that he did not solicit a $1000 bribe from W. W. Chamberlin to kill the optometry tax bill and denied discussions of a $750 payment. He admitted accepting $1000 as a retainer but said Chamberlin pressed it upon him. Dale described a conference in Chamberlin’s room where cognac was served and recounted his arrest by Ranger Captain Frank Hamer when he questioned the bill’s motive.
