Burglars Take $1000 In Goods From Polk Street Store
Sylvia Shop at 717 Polk Street was broken into last night. Burglars used a dirt clod to break a rear window and unlocked the latch, making off with about $1000 in merchandise. Mood assumes new U S duties in Fort Worth

DAR Resolution Sparks Debate Over Speakers at Convention
Washington April 19. A resolution granting Daughters of the American Revolution chapters power to invite any speakers without National approval was filed with the resolutions committee. Mrs. St Omer Roy of Fort Scott Kansas announced the move amid protests over a so called blacklist of undesirable speakers. Two additional resolutions were filed to delay national policy until chapters act and to require a defense policy outline from the national committee. Also report from Colorado Tex April 19 states two Black men Jim Brooks and Henry Davis confessed and exonerated a white man in the Mitchell farm murder of Ernest Hardin as authorities said the killing followed an argument. the white man remains detained. Charles Birger was hanged at 9 52 a m in Benton Illinois for the murder of Mayor Joe Adams of West City. About 600 spectators crowded the stockade as Birger, calm and de bonair, walked to his death after a procession from the jail. Rabbi J R Mazur of East St Louis and Deputy Sheriffs accompanied him. Phil Hanna the volunteer hangman carried out the execution.

Flier To Rejoin Bremen Crew With New Propeller
A replacement propeller is en route to Murray Bay for Major James Fitzmaurice and his two German teammates to continue the transatlantic flight to New York. The Junkers F-13 propeller, taken from the Bremen’s sister ship, was shipped from Montreal after arriving from Clarke City. Fitzmaurice clarified he would not sail alone to New York and will bring the repair crew back to the Bremen from Murray Bay to join the three-flight attempt.
