American Robin Spans Atlantic
A robin allegedly crossed the Atlantic landing at Lundy Island off England’s coast. Field notes suggest a 2800 mile downwind route from Newfoundland with winds near 35 mph could yield a 40 hour flight. Smithsonian expert Dr. Herbert D. Deignan calls the voyage plausible though details remain uncertain.

Salton Sea formed by Colorado River in 1905 07
The Salton Sea in southern California was created between 1905 and 1907 when the Colorado River breached a gap in its levee and flooded the below sea level valley. Evaporation loss is balanced by drainage from irrigation systems as the water level remains steady. Napoleon labeled England a Nation of Shopkeepers.
