After a year in Vietnam Spec. 4 David Lee Kokernot 125th Aviation Co. U S Army arrived at El Paso airport on Friday Oct 20 with his family and friends greeting him. He will spend a 30 day leave with relatives in Alpine and El Paso before returning.

Man Wanted in Louisiana Fisco Held on Slaying Charge
Lee Jack Fisco 43 of Portland Oregon is held in Brewster County Jail on Louisiana authorities charges of slaying and robbery in the Jan 16 1964 case of W A Jarmon. He was arrested for disturbing the peace, fined 75, and may face a Louisiana extradition warrant. Sheriff Williams says Louisiana had been unable to extradite him previously.

Pilots Invade Alpine Lions Club Luncheon
Two Alpine Pilot Club members addressed the Alpine Lions Club on service and child welfare at Tuesday’s luncheon. Justice of the Peace Hallie Stillwell and Councilwoman Dorothy McBride defended the Pilot Club as a service group. A Lion quipped about their flight knowledge as a joke. Fisco was arrested attempting to enter the yard of deputy sheriff Owin Kring near Sul Ross College.

UNICEF Trick or Treat Plans Announced in Alpine
Mrs. C D McCollister, chairwoman of the program in Alpine, unveiled Halloween plans for UNICEF Trick or Treaters. Collecting cartons bearing the UNICEF symbol will be shared with Alpine children at 6 p.m. Sunday Oct 29, for coin donations only. Groups will be supervised by adults and escorted door to door, then a penny counting party will be held at the Methodist Church Undercroft.
