Memorial Hospital in Brewster County Built by W D Falkner
Work began in June 1956 on Brewster County Memorial Hospital built by Pecos contractor W D Falkner. Architects Foster and Davis of El Paso designed a fully air conditioned facility with individual room controls and emergency electrical generation. The hospital features ceramic tile walls, rubber tile floors, vinyl tile in key areas, plaster walls, acoustical tile ceilings, aluminum windows, birch interior doors, stainless steel kitchen equipment, and a brick exterior with Granux trim and a 20 year roof.

Administrator Began Work Before Hospital Completion
John M. Stuckwish, administrator of Brewster County Memorial Hospital, started work months before the hospital opened. After his selection by the Hospital Board, he moved to Alpine with his family and began hiring staff and supervising delivery and installation of equipment and supplies.
