The fragment indicates a lecture by Mr. Smith pleased the group and notes a pause on new Avalanche subscriptions outside the area and to service members, pending further notice.
Pine Nov cattle market shows turmoil then damp improvement
Cattle trading in Pine last week featured excess low grade cow supplies and poor sales leading to holdovers, while the close offered a slightly better outlook as state holdings absorbed. Medium and good steers held steady to firm, with weak to lower prices for common types and jammers, cutters, and canners easing. Feeder cattle demand remained strong with well bred steers selling to 1428 to 1310 per head, and yearlings and calves at 110 to 4. Sheep and lambs moved readily with a few good lambs reaching 136 to 1479, and a note to browse Christmas cards in The Avalanche.
